Step by Step method

  • Preparation:

  • 1.Add maida and sorghum flour to a bowl.

  • 2.Add baking powder, salt and ghee to it and mix well.

  • 3.Add curd and knead into a smooth dough. Keep aside for around 20 to 25 minutes to set.

  • 4.Add sugar and a cup of water to a pan and heat on a medium flame.

  • 5.Heat while stirring till it forms a single-thread syrup and turn off the flame.

  • 6.Add cardamom powder to the syrup and set it aside. Keep it covered so that it doesn't cool down quickly.

  • 7.Take the dough and knead it a little.

  • 8.Roll the dough into small balls. Flatten each ball a little and make a hole through the centre with a finger.

  • 9.Prepare the rest of the dough the same way.

  • 10.Heat oil in a heavy-bottom pan on a low flame for deep frying.

  • 11.Depending on the size of the utensil, put 7-8 balushahi into the hot oil.

  • 12.Fry on a low flame and flip them until golden brown on all sides.

  • 13.When ready, take out the balushahi and steep it in sugar syrup for around 20 minutes.

  • 14.Serve this scrumptious dessert warm.
