  • Preparation :

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, take all-purpose flour, sorghum flour & salt.

  • 2. Gradually add required amount of water, knead, and prepare a dough. Wrap the dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  • 3. In a bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, ensuring they are well coated to prevent browning.

  • 4. Add sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to it. Mix the spices with the apple slices to coat evenly and set it aside.

  • 5. Preheat your oven to 190°C.

  • 6. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and divide it in half. Roll out one half on a lightly floured surface into a large circle, about 1/8-inch thick.

  • 7. Transfer the rolled dough to the pie dish, gently pressing it into the bottom and sides. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.

  • 8. Add the spiced apple filling to the pie crust, spreading it out evenly .

  • 9. Roll out the remaining dough and carefully lay it over the apple filling.

  • 10 Trim the excess dough and press the edges of the top and bottom crusts together to seal.

  • 11. Brush the top of the pie with the egg wash to give it a beautiful golden-brown finish.

  • 12. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling through the slits.

  • 13. Allow the pie to cool before slicing. Serve it with ice cream of your choice for an extra treat.
