Step by Step method

  • Preparation :

  • 1.Take jaggery , salt and Ragi flour in a mixing bowl , mix it well and keep it

  • aside .

  • 2.Heat 2tbsp of ghee in a frying pan . Add bay leaves, cashew nuts and raisins.

  • Saute it and keep aside .

  • 3.Take milk in a pan, one it starts to boil , add chopped coconut, grated

  • coconut, black pepper powder, cardamom powder, cashew , bay leaves and

  • raisins and let it boil.

  • 4.Then add Ragi flour and jaggery mix in to it and stir continuously.  Slowly it

  • will be like a thick paste and come together.

  • 5.Take another pan, put banana leaf in to it. spread rest of the ghee and pour

  • all the paste in to it. Spread it evenly and level the top the pitha. Decorate with

  • cherry and cover the pan with a lid.  Let it cook for 25 to 30 minute in a low

  • flame.

  • 6.After 30 minute u can see the pitha started leaving the sides and turned

  • golden brown from every side.  This means the pitha is done.

  • 7.Leave it to cool down completely.

  • 8.After that the pitha will come out of the pan easily.

  • 9.Cut and serve it warm or cold as per choice
