Step by Step method

  • Preparation:

  • 1.Clean the little millet rice thoroughly and keep aside.

  • 2.Chop green chillies, onions, tomatoes and vegetables finely and grate ginger. Keep each chopped vegetables separately.

  • 3.Heat oil in a medium-sized pan.

  • 4.Add bengal gram and black gram and stir fry till they turn light brown.

  • 5.Add mustard seeds, grated ginger, curry leaves, onion and green chilli and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until onion turn translucent.

  • 6.Add vegetables and tomatoes and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes on a medium flame.

  • 7.Add salt, turmeric powder and water and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

  • 8.When the water starts to boil, add little millet rice, and mix well.

  • 9.Cover the pan and cook for about 10 minutes on a low flame till the water is absorbed and the little millet is cooked.

  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve the little millet upma hot.
