Kodo Millet Chakuli

Chakuli is a type of dosa from South Odisha. Unlike a typical dosa, which is crisp and crepe-like, chakuli is a thick pancake, with toppings.

Ingredients

  1. Kodomillet - 500 gm
  2. Blackgram - 250 gm
  3. Fenugreek seeds - 5 gm
  4. Salt as per taste as per taste

Directions

  1. Wash and soak Kodo millet rice in water for 4 hours in a bowl.
  2. Mix fenugreek seeds with blackgram and soak it for 4 hours in a separate bowl.
  3. Add little water to Kodo millet rice and grind it till it turns into paste and keep it a bowl.
  4. Add little water to blackgram-fenugreek seeds mix and grind it till it becomes paste.
  5. Mix both blackgram batter and Kodo millet rice batter. Add salt to the batter.
  6. Ferment the mix for 3 hours. In winter, ferment it overnight.
  7. Heat dosa making tawa.
  8. Pour the batter thickly on it, spread with spoon in a round shape.
  9. Cook it for 4 to 5 minute . Chakuli is ready.
  10. Serve hot with curry/chutney.
  11. (you can add grated gajar in top with chopped onion) .
