Ragi Pakoda

Ragi is a remarkable source of protein and minerals and contains important amino acids. It has a high amount of calcium and potassium and is a great source of iron. Ragi contains tryptophan, an amino acid that reduces appetite.

Ingredients

  1. Ragi flour – 1 cup,
  2. Roasted gram [Pottu kadalai, chutney gram] – 1 tbsp,
  3. Roasted gram flour – 2 tbsp,
  4. Red chilli powder – 2 tsp,
  5. Turmeric powder - ¼ tsp,
  6. Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp,
  7. Onion – 2 [sliced],
  8. Green chilli – 1 [finely chopped] [for kids:- don’t add chillies],
  9. Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped],
  10. Curry leaves – 2 springs [chopped],
  11. Asafoetida [Hing] – ¼ tsp,
  12. Salt to taste, Oil for deep frying, Water as needed

Directions

  1. In a bowl add all ingredients without oil mix well make sticky dough.
  2. Heat enough oil in a pan sprinkle raw ragi mixture
  3. Deep fry till crisp & golden brown on medium hot oil.
  4. Once its ready remove from oil drain on absorbent paper then serve hot.
